NAQEZ celebrates 10 Years Anniversary

In February, 2025, NAQEZ celebrated 10 years of powerful advocacy, capacity development, service delivery, networking and policy input. At this historic event held at Protea Hotel in Lusaka, education stakeholders in Zambia and the SADC region came together to highlight the challenges the sector faces and appreciate some success stories. The conference included NAQEZ Board members, Union leaders, Civil Society organizations, Provincial and district NAQEZ leaders, NAQEZ media team, the media and teacher’s .The guest of honour was Hon.Imanga Wamunyima, Nalolo Member of Parliament.

NAQEZ attends a workshop on collaboration in Arush, Tanzania

Represented by Mr James Malanji,NAQEZ Programs Manager,and organized by the Education Out Loud in May,the organizationa attended a learning and collaboration workshop in Arusha ,Tanzania.

Hosting the Pre-National Budget Symposium

In May, Together with ZANEC and Action Aid Zambia, NAQEZ hosted a pre-national budget symposium.The symposium brought various Government and Non-Governmental stakeholders, to disucss education financing in Zambia.

NAQEZ attending the PIN/JCTR Capacity Development Sessions

Facitated by the People in Need[PIN] and the Jesuit Center for Theology Reflection[JCTR], Secretariat Officers from all departments namely Administration, Programs and Accounts, attended intensive capacity development training at Mika Convention Center in Chongwe district.

Hosting a Sexual Reproductive Health Service Fair in Kafue – February

Participating at the SADC NGO Conference in Madagascar

Invited by the SADC Council of NGOs, the organization, through the Executive Director, attended the SADC NGO conference in Antananarivo, Madagascar in August. The conference discussed a number of issues affecting the SADC region, including the quality of education. On the third day of the conference, the NAQEZ Director was a panellist during a round table discussion on the state of education in southern Africa

NAQEZ attends the Zimbabwe National Youth Conference

In Harare, the organization was represented at Hope Jere, the Programs Officer. The conference held in November, brought together young people from all 10 provinces of Zimbabwe and the SADC region, to discuss challenges affecting young people in the education and health sectors.

Learning, Networking and Engagements in North-Western Province

In November, NAQEZ Executive Director and the Finance Officer, Lloyd Mumba, joined several NGO leaders in several engagements with Government and the private sector. These engagements were aimed at finding synergies between and among development partners for accelerated national development.

Undertaking Action Research on the Re-Entry Policy

Attending a Stakeholder INDABA on Accelerating SRH Policy Implementation, Investment and Accountability

Organized by UNFPA and SAT, the NAQEZ Director and Programs Manager attended this important policy dialogue in December. Government, the UN system and civil society organizations sat down to analyse the legal and policy landscape around provision of sexuality education and reproductive health to young people in Zambia.

NCA and DCA CSO Dialogues

NAQEZ was among local NGOs which participated in dialogues which were aimed at strengthening the NGO sector in Zambia in terms of advocacy, leadership, networking and compliance. These dialogues were organized by the Norwegian Church Aid [NCA] and the Danish Church Aid [DCA] and shall continue even in 2026.

Training CSE Defenders

With financial and technical support from Amplify Change and the GEAR Alliance trained young people as Comprehensive Sexuality Education Defenders [CSE]. These young people received knowledge and skills to be CSE Ambassadors in their communities and the country.

Engagement with Zambia Daily Mail Newspaper

In May, in its quest for advocacy strategic partnerships, NAQEZ Board and management paid a courtesy call on the Zambia Daily Mail Managing Director. The engagement was cordial, successful and assuring.
